Andaman Tourism Sea & Islands

A part of the Indian Ocean and exceptional dive destination.

Visiting the Andaman Sea would be a perfect holiday destination and the islands are the right destination for tourism. It becomes slowly possible now since the Myanmar and Indian part have been cut off from the rest of the world for decades it is still a pristine part of the globe.

The military of Myanmar didn't allow any foreigners into their waters since the 196x and also India blocked off all islands in their sector of the ocean. Until recently only the Malaysian and Thai part was accessible, this is changing now after the former Burma slowly opens up.

Travel in the Andaman Sea Islands

The current visiting and tourism center is around Phuket Island and one of the top tourist destinations in the world, people come here for holidays with plenty of different interests and preferences, scuba diving is one of it. A other is big game fishing  and exploring the fascinating islands. After you are through with it at daytime nightlife entertainment is waiting at Patong and other places in the Thai sector.

Probably the most popular adventure activities.

This are diving, caving and trekking in the national parks around. Beside of underwater activities rafting, kayaking, quad treks, dirt bike, paintball, elephant riding, sailing and more is available every day, just visit a travel agent and off you go the next  day. Diving spots close to the island are around Rachai Yai and Noi, the Phi-Phi islands and the Similans plus a bit further to the north the Surin Islands which 200 km towards Ranong.

On the Myanmar (Burmese) side is their center which is Kawthaung but the infrastructure is not good at all. Actually if someone wants to do scuba diving via live-aboard, usually in the Mergui archipelago it needs to book a trip starting in Phuket. They offer journeys with sailing ships and excellent motor yachts, as you can imagine it won’t come cheap but is an unforgettable float into one of the most pretty and untouched parts of the world.

This includes a visit to the “Sea Gypsies”.

They are the Moken in Thailand and Salone in Myanmar, the natives of the Andaman Sea from Myeik all the way to the south in Malaysia.

Tourism activities in the “Country of Smiles” are growing quite quick and now the northern neighbor try to get a slice of the “holiday cake” business, but the fact is the Myanmars do nothing only talking and their politicians are running around in the world with the open hand and begging for alms. Of course this is more comfortable as doing something by themselves. There is a lot of money in the country but the bureaucrats in Naypyidaw are mainly busy with their political in-fights to grab their "share" of the country. Considering that this country is as big as France and Britain combined and has all climate zones from the 6000 meter high snow capped mountains in the north to the tropical south a big challenge on tourism is waiting but the government does almost nothing to kick-start that.

A fine tropical climate with a never ending predictable summer.

is just the environment people like for holiday destination. Prime time in the tropical part is from November to May when the first rain clouds come in over the Indian Ocean.

This brings true excitement for everyone around and the easy going lifestyle plus very affordable prices makes it a perfect fit for tropical vacations.
