Travel from Phuket to the capital.
Most trips are made by airlines and the road by bus there is no connection by train although the government was floating some ideas (2015) to implement a railway from Surat Thani on the East Coast to the island but they talk a lot and do almost nothing when too many parties are involved.
The current railway from north to south is along the east coast to Hat Yai, Padang Besar and Penang plus Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia and after to Singapore. There are two versions for at trip, one is on the Andaman Sea coast on the west side to Ranong from there to Chumphon and to Bangkok or to Phang Nga and Surat Thani on the west coast to join the A4 which runs north south as a usual 4 lane motorway also called "Phetkasem" road.
